India Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon world leaders to make reforms people driven and ensure its goal should lead to simplification of processes.
In his address to the G20 nations at Brisbane on Saturday, he spoke of the need for reforms even as he stressed on economic growth, infrastructure and tax avoidance while pitching for institutionalizing reforms.
Modi said: “Reform has to be driven by the people, cannot be by stealth. We need to focus on next generation infrastructure.”
At a meeting with BRICS leaders, the prime minister stressed on repatriation of black money kept abroad saying, “money abroad is linked to security challenges.”
Australia prime minister Tony Abbott welcomed Modi at the summit even as every leader wanted to meet the India PM and spend time with him. As usual, Modi was at his best, reaching out to world leaders, making points of India before the heads of state.
It was also a proud moment for India as about 130 countries including USA, China and European nations accepted Modi’s proposal of International Yoga Day.
