KOTA: In a strong message to unruly lawmakers, BJP has suspended a Rajasthan MLA from the party after an audio clip of him abusing and threatening a CMO went viral on social media.
The CMO of Kota had removed a male nurse Vinod Maurya from the post of store in-charge after about 2000 antibiotic tablets were found missing from the store during inspection.
Kota MLA Prahlad Gunjal of the ruling BJP then asked the CMO to transfer Maurya to a place of his choice. The CMO did not obey the order, inviting trouble. The MLA abused the CMO over phone and threatened him to make his life and his children miserable if Maurya, brother of a BJP worker, is not transferred immediately.
Maurya was lucky to get the transfer the same day. However, an audio clip of the phone call went viral on social media later. Although Gunjal regretted the incident in a letter to party leadership and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, he was suspended from the party on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a BJP worker had called again the doctor on Wednesday and warned him that whatever he was told over phone will be translated into action soo. The doctor later met the superintendent of police and asked for protection to his family.
One more case involving Gunjal has also come to light. His brother Srilal Gunjal, chairman of Kota Cooperative Society of Milk Producers, faces an inquiry after a complaint made by employees of the Kota dairy alleging misappropriation of fund and office vehicles. The complaint also says the chairman used to get ghee from the dairy free of cost to feed his buffaloes.
As per a report on Patrika, the Chief Minister’s office has asked an Addl Secretary to look into the matter.
