NEW DELHI: The BJP released its manifesto for the 16th Lok Sabha elections on Monday as polling began for the first phase in five Parliamentary seats.
The main opposition party, bolstered by the Modi wave nationwide, promised to improve the country’s ailing economy, boost infrastructure, put an end to policy paralysis during the UPA-II government and check corruption at all levels.
Releasing the manifesto, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, who also heads the Manifesto Committee, said, “We have chalked out a plan to improve the economic situation in the country in the manifesto. As far as infrastructure is concerned, improving manufacturing is important and it needs to be export oriented. We need to build a Brand India.”
The party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi congratulated Joshi for including the aspirations of people in the manifesto.
“Good governance and development would be the key for party,” Modi said. “A good government should think about the poor and work for the poor.”
Senior leader LK Advani also praised the manifesto and a recorded message of Arun Jaitley was played out.
