NEW DELHI: With Congress’ announcement of “no rethink on support to AAP for now”, decks have been cleared for the swearing in of the first ever Aam Admi government in Delhi.
As promised, the oath ceremony will take place at the historic Ram Lila ground, the birthplace of the party, at 12 pm on Saturday. The party leadership has reportedly decided to announce implementation of a promises it made in its election manifesto.
Apart from chief minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal, six more Somnath Bharti, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Girish Soni, Manish Sisodia, Rakhi Birla and Satyendra Jain will also take oath as ministers.
Meanwhile, sources in AAP say the party will also invite Anna Hazare, Kiran Bedi and Santosh Hegde to the swearing in ceremony scheduled for 12 pm, Saturday.
No rift, says Binny:
Putting an end to the rift, the newly-elected legislator of Laxmi Nagar Vinod Kumar Binny said Wednesday he was not angry and held Kejriwal as his leader.
Binny was angry for not to be picked in the new cabinet, and had reportedly threatened to expose AAP leaders in a press conference on Wednesday. However, he came around after a late night meeting with Sanjay Singh and Kumar Viswas of the party.
All eyes are set on the new team as the party aims to bring in a change in Indian politics, applying austerity measures to its ministers and legislators to begin with.
Kejriwal has announced that no AAP minister will use sprawling bunglow, luxurious cars, red beacons and any such luxury at the cost of public money. He has already refused high security to himself as offered by the government after he was tipped to be the next chief minister of Delhi.
