NEW DELHI: Vinod Kumar Binny, the MLA from Laxmi Nagar who was expelled from the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday, has begun a dharna against the party. So has the opposition BJP. The twin attack is being held at Jantar Mantar and outside the Delhi Secretariat, respectively.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reportedly offered tea to the BJP supporters which they refused.
“Kejriwal offred us tea. I want to tell him that we are not here for tea. He should sack Somnath Bharti,” said a BJP MLA.
Accusing the government of not fulfilling promises it made before elections, Binny met the Lieutenant Governor on Monday over the Somnath Bharti issue. Binny said the L-G had assured him of action against the guilty.
Amidst all the criticism, Kejriwal defended his government, saying that no other party had performed as much as his in the past one month.
“We are here to work for the people, not to ensure that we stay in power,” he told reporters.
The Congress, whose eight MLAs are providing support to the minority AAP government in the Delhi Assembly, said that only time will tell if the Kejriwal government will retain the confidence of the people.
