NEW DELHI: While addressing a roadshow at Krishna Nagar, BJP chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi got immotional and was seen wiping her tears. Bedi, who calls herself Vikas Bedi after filing nomination, vowed to return people’s overwhelming love by ensuring development of the area.
Bedi, the first lady IPS officer, had an image of a tough police officer despite getting embroiled in a number of controversies in her 40-year career.
“I have no words for the kind of love I am getting. I will return the love to them. I will try my best to remain capable of getting their love. We will serve them with honesty,” Bedi said.
Bedi took the occasion to charge at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, the CM candidate of AAP and her main contender.
“He is doing this to remain in news. Kejriwal is one such person who wants to be in news at any cost. I know him from long before and negativity also suits him much. How will he stay in news otherwise,” said Bedi, referring to the AAP chief’s challenge to the BJP government at the Centre to arrest him if he was found guilty of wrongdoing in the ‘donation from dubious companies’ incident.
“It’s not surprising for me that he is saying that ‘arrest me’. That’s what he wants. He wants to go to jail and garner votes by misleading people,” Bedi said.
Responding to the charges Kejriwal said, “they keep on hurling allegations against us. Now they are saying we used hawala money. I want to ask in past 65 years since when hawala money is taken by cheque? Hawala is one such transaction which is done outside banks. If we had done something wrong, why would we put it on our website?”
“I want to say this to Bedi too. I have worked with her for three years. I still respect her but in politics there are certain limits that we should follow,” added Kejriwal.
A breakaway group of AAP had alleged that Kejriwal’s party had received Rs 50 lakh each from four dubious companies as donations last year. They had produced copies of the donation receipts which were published on the AAP website.
BJP, led by PM Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, nearly 200 members of parliament, senior leaders and RSS members have been leaving no stone unturned to turn the table on AAP as almost all opinion polls and pre-election surveys predict victory for AAP in the Delhi Assembly elections to be held on February 07.
