New Delhi: The Congress claims Friday it would win Assembly elections in all the five states for which Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath announced poll schedule today in Delhi.
Sampath, flanked by election commissioners H S Brahma and S N A Zaidi, announced the schedule along with introduction of the right to reject all candidates in electoral fray by voters following a landmark decision in this regard by the Supreme Court of India.
Senior Congress leader Rashid Alvi, following the announcement, said the polls, only six months before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, are important to his party and they will win all five states.
He said his party would form government in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Mizoram where polls will take place between Nov 11 and Dec 4. He denied if the national issues will have any impact on these polls.
“The national issues won’t have an impact in the state polls as local issues will be important there,” Alvi added.
Results will be announced on December 8.
