New Delhi: Results of one more exit poll is out in the city. A survey, conducted for a TV news channel, predicts a hung Assembly for Delhi with three main players Congress, BJP and AAP not far off each other.
In such a case, who will form the government? AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has declared time and again that his party would prefer to sit in opposition in the absence of clear verdict in their favour.
The last thing one can expect is a coalition government by the Congress and BJP. And, in particular, when general elections not far away.
So Delhi is set to go for Assembly polls once again? May be, with the Parliament elections next year? Not impossible too.
Political analysts believe the spectacular rise in prices of onions will certainly take a toll on the Sheila Dikshit government, much like what had happened to BJP 15 years ago.
But then emergence of the Aam Admi Party has changed the political equation. The BJP may fall short of a majority as the newly formed AAP is likely to eat into its share. One can not also expect a coalition government between the Congress and BJP.
Another section of political analysts believe gone are the days of “either Congress or BJP”. People want a change. A new breed of politicians have emerged. The activists-turned-politicians seem to fulfill their wishes which can change the face of Indian politics if voted to power.
A media revolution, the 24×7 TV media in particular, has given rise to people’s desire for participation. They want to elect a government they deserve.
With successive polls predicting a rise in popularity for AAP, one may not be surprised to see a clear verdict for Delhi on December 08, the day for counting of votes.
