MUMBAI: Even as the Aam Admi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal called upon honest people to join his party, retired Army chief General VK Singh took a dig at him without taking his name Friday.
While speaking at Anna Hazare’s fast venue in Ralegan Siddhi, Singh said, “Some people think they are bigger than Anna (seemingly referring to Arvind Kejriwal).”
Gopal Rai, a leader from AAP, was present at the meeting and objected to Singh’s observation. However, Hazare intervened into the matter and asked Rai to either keep quiet or leave the venue.
Hazare has been holding a fast since four days demanding passage of the Lokpal Bill in the winter session of the Parliament.
Gopal Rai later called General Singh a Modi supporter and said, “When VK Singh got up on stage and started spouting accusations, that’s when I interrupted him. It saddens me that the man who left Anna to promote Narendra Modi, and support him to get a party ticket, is chastising me. Anna is like a father to me, he has the right to say these things. I will remain on my fast as long as he does.”
Some of the supporters of Anna Hazare are reportedly unhappy with Kejriwal for hijacking Hazare’s India Against Corruption (IAC) agenda for political benefits.
