NEW DELHI: The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has advised all news channels not to air an interview of one of the rapists in the December 16, 2012 gangrape case in Delhi.
An advisory has been issued to all TV news channels not to carry the story related to the controversial interview even as the government has sought explanation from the Tihar jail officials how could the interview take place inside the jail premises.
A British film-maker had interviewed one of the convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape case about an year ago. As per media reports, the rapist had no remorse for committing the crime. In stead, he had reportedly said that she was killed for resisting the crime.
Taking a serious view of the matter, the government has sought an explanation from Tihar jail authorities as the parents of the gangrape victim reacted angrily to such remarks by the rapist.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has registered an FIR in connection with the interview and decided to move court to restrain airing the interview.
