NEW DELHI: If Delhi goes to vote, BJP is likely to form government even though Arvind Kejriwal still rules hearts of most of the Delhiites compared to other politicians from the capital city.
As per an opinion poll conducted by the ABP News-Nielson recently, 33% respondents voted for Kejriwal as a popular leader next to Narendra Modi’s 58%. However, the saffron camp has reasons to worry as their poster boy Modi has lost 5% popularity within a month. In a poll conducted by the same agency in November, 63% respondents had voted for the PM as the most popular leader while Kejriwal has made a significant gain of 8%.
Kejriwal tops the list as CM candidate with 43%, followed by 39% for Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, 5% for Sheila Dikshit, 3% each for Jagdish Mukhi and Satish Upadhyaya of BJP. Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely and Ajay Maken have support of 2% each.
However, the hardliners in BJP pose the biggest threat to the party. While 14% respondents feel BJP will gain because of them, 33% say “no impact” as 32% feel they will dent BJP’s chances.
On performance of the 49-day AAP government, 30% rate outstanding, 35% good, 23% average, 8% poor and 3% very poor. About Modi government, 33% rate it outstanding, 41% good, 18% average, 5% poor and 1% very poor. About 39% feel price rise is the biggest concern for the people of Delhi as against 30% of water crisis, 27% drinking water, 21% unemployment and 14% power crisis.
A staggering 67% feel law and order is a big problem in Delhi as 27% do not agree with 6% undecided over the issue.
However, 38% will vote for BJP. AAP will get votes of 27% and Congress 24% as remaining 11% will vote for other parties and Independents. On number of seats, BJP is likely to win 45 in the 70-member House with AAP 17 and Congress 7 while other parties are poised to bag only one seat.

An opinion poll in November by ABP News-Nielson had suggested 46 for BJP and 18 to AAP. Congress gained two, as compared to 5 in November.
