CHENNAI: A battery of heavy weight politicians and industrialists including Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Jayalalithaa after she was acquitted by the Karnataka High Court in the disproportionate assets case on Monday.
Besides Modi, Tamil Nadu Governor Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah, Union Ministers Sushma Swaraj and Najma Heptulla, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, TMC leader G.K. Vasan, several industrialists and movie personalities among others also greeted her.
A statement from her party said Modi called the AIADMK supremo and greeted her.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam has indicated to resign from the post to make way for her to become the CM. It is only a matter of time when will she assume office.
Paneerselvam and other ministers showed up at Poes Garden, Jayalalithaa’s residence in Chennai, shortly after her acquittal as party cadre and supporters began shouting and dancing on the streets in wild celebrations. People were also seen distributing sweets and bursting crackers and coconuts.
Opposition DMK leaders said AIADMK cadres need not be happy as this is not the final verdict in the case.
