NEW DELHI: A video of a female district magistrate reprimanding corrupt officials in public has gone viral on social media. The video shows the officer, while inspecting construction works, seized materials and sent the sample for quality check.
B Chandrakala, district magistrate of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, was inspecting developmental works in Bulandshahr municipality. She got angry to find brazen violation of guidelines and inferior quality materials getting used.
The officer took to task erring officials in public including the chairperson of the municipal corporation and asked to lodge an FIR immediately failing which she would take stern action against them.
She ordered to blacklist the supplier of the materials, asking the contractor to start works within two days with fresh material. The video shows a person hitting two bricks to find it broken as the DM angrily asked the junior engineer if the bricks are strong enough to withstand rainfalls.
“Is this your work? You will go to jail right now, understand?,” the magistrate told angrily the junior engineer and the contractor who were responsible for the works even as local people complained of low grade materials being used all along.
The DM has ordered to check all the projects executed by the contractor and the erring staff.
